The name of this project is an allusion to calling an un-modded version of a game the "vanilla" version. The goal of this project is to make the late 1990's-game Jagged Alliance 2 available on a wide range of platforms, improve its stability, fix bugs and provide a stable platform for mod development. All these additions combined make the final product still look sort of like vanilla with having some improvements added as pieces of chocolate.
JA2 Stracciatella is the only project for JA2 which truly fulfills the role of a fan-patch or "unofficial patch" since the project does NOT focus on adding new features to the game and thus changing it's gameplay, but on improving, fixing and modernizing the game.
It also adds Dead is Dead Mode. This new game mode is exclusive to JA2 Stracciatella and adds a new challenge to the game. It completely disables saving - all choices and actions become 100% permanent. It is only recommended for players who look for a very difficult game, old school-style.
